As Creatures of Habit, How Can We Use Social Media to Help Small Businesses?

We often overestimate how readily our customers will remember our business when they are in need of our services.

Each of us gets so used to routines - buying coffee from the same coffee shop, taking the same routes to school/gym/office, even ordering the same item from the menu in the same restaurant.

As a business owner, how do you become part of someone’s routine? To get them to take a different route, to try your services and products?

The golden rule in marketing is: repetition, repetition, repetition.

A new gastropub recently opened just one minute’s walk from The Social Byrd HQ and it looked really good, they did a great launch campaign to let the local area know about their opening. As is the way for most of us, we were kept from trying out the new venue due to busy schedules.

The venue’s opening hype passed and so did their marketing. It was well situated, surely footfall alone would suffice, right?

Wrong. We routinely forgot to try this new venue without the aid of reminders in the form of marketing and social media - and by the looks of the empty tables when we last passed - it seems we’re not the only ones.

It’s no surprise when we start working with a new customer on their social media presence that they tell us about the influx of lapsed customers who tell them “I’d forgotten about you until I saw you on Instagram/Facebook.”

One of our trade customers saw a flurry of new and lapsed customers in the immediate aftermath The Social Byrd starting up their social media activity. It’s been a great boost for the team to see so many familiar faces amongst their new customers.

We are all leading busy lives and making things simple, visible and easy for new (and lapsed) customers to find you is part of our job as your small businesses marketing support.

Creating content that reminds people about your business, creating desire for your products and services, driving people to become your customers maybe for the first time or maybe for the first time in a long time.

We love to help small businesses make the best use of platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as from their websites and newsletter campaigns.
